Lowick Falcons 1 - 4 Alnwick Dynamos - 15th May 2010

This was yet another game were the Falcons did not get the result their performance deserved.

Despite the fact the Dynamos are the league champions, it was the Falcons who were by far the better team, right from the whistle. Lowick could not get the early goal their play deserved, with the midfield trio of Dean, Niall & Owen, forcing Alnwick to defend deeper & deeper. At times the visitors could not clear there lines, as panic set in. Eventually Lowick took the lead with another long range effort from Niall, that the keeper could not hold. Tai, Jamie & James Thompson simply moped up anything that at the back. Lowick pressed on looking for a second goal before half time, but despite all their efforts they had to settle for a one goal lead at halt time.

Again it was Lowick who started the second half the brighter of the two teams, but totally against the run of play Alnwick grabbed an equaliser. Buster was still causing havoc in the Alnwick defence, with some intelligent passing and movement off the ball. Owen went close, as he saw his shot hit the post. Then came the turning point in the match, as Niall raced to get the ball, the keeper brought him down in the box, & when he tried to reach the loose ball the keeper clearly held him down by the legs, but no PENALTY was awarded. Within thirty seconds Alnwick took an underserved lead. The Falcons dug deep once more, but went futher behind when Alnwick got a third goal, when one of their players clearly handled the ball outside the box, but no  free kick was awarded. Determined to get something out the game, Lowick still pressed Alnwick back, but unfortunately they grabbed a fourth near the end. This gave Alnwick a very flattering win.

Lowick Falcons 3 vs.  Alnwick Galaxy 2 - 8th May 2010

The Cup Final still remains a possibility, after Lowick got back to winning ways.

This was a very entertaining game, with the Falcons deservedly coming out on top. Both teams had chances, before Niall opened the scoring with a great strike from 20 yards out, giving the keeper no chance, but Alnwick equalised straight away. Lowick eventually began to gain the upper hand, and it was no surprise when they regained the lead, with a well placed header from Dean. Lowick pressed forward looking to get a second goal before half time, and again Niall was on hand to get his second with a well placed shoot from the edge of the box, making it 3-1 at half time.

Lowick had Alnwick on the back foot for long periods of second half, with Owen controlling midfield. But it was Alnwick who scored with a goal from a quick counter attack. Then Lowick had a scare, as Alnwick were awarded a penalty, but fortunately they missed the chance to get back on level terms. Both teams were still looking for more goals, but neither could grab another, and The Falcons claimed a valuable 3 points.

Lowick Falcons 0 - 2 Rothbury - 24th April 2010
Quote from the Rothbury manager  "I really don't know how you didn't win that game."

This game had to be seen to be believed, Lowick totally controlled this game, having nearly all the possession and certainly all the best chances. The Falcons hit the post and crossbar on at least six occasions, and also missed a penalty.

Right from kick off the Lads laid siege to the Rothbury goal, and basically stayed in their half for the whole of the 1st half. Lowick were playing some of there best football of the season, but just couldn't finish. The back 3 of Tai, Jamie & Kyle, simply snuffed out any Rothbury threat with ease. Dean & Owen dominated midfield, giving Nial plenty of ammunition up front, but the break through just wouldn't come.

The second half was almost identical to the 1st, but still the goal wouldn't come. Then Rothbury took the lead, with a goal against the run of play, with a soft goal direct from a free kick. Lowick had the perfect chance to get the equaliser, but Nial hit the bar from a penalty. As Lowick pressed forward, Rothbury grabbed a 2nd from a breakaway. The Falcons tried to get something out of the game, but it was just one of those games were you don't get the result you thoroughly deserve.

Lowick Falcons 2 - 2 Berwick Juniors - 27th March

This was a case of dropping points in a match that Lowick should have had sown up by half time, by not taking there chances, when dominating the game.

As usual Lowick dominated from kick off, and forced Berwick to defend deeply. Dean, Owen and James Moore totally controlling midfield, giving Berwick no time on the ball, and helping to set up plenty of Lowick attacks.

The Falcons eventually got the goal their play deserved, after some good play by Buster surging into the box he found Dean who coolly slotted the ball home. Lowick went in search of a second, with James Moore going close on a couple of occasions, but it was Buster who got the second, after he made space for himself and finished well. When Berwick did press forward they found Tai & Kyle in great form at the back, not letting anything through.

Berwick came out with all guns blazing after the start of the the second half, and pulled a goal back within a couple of minutes of the re-start, after a defensive mix up. Straight from kick off Lowick should have scored, but Buster shot just wide. The game was now end to end, but with nobody creating any clear cut chances. Then after a spell of Lowick pressure Berwick broke quickly and grabbed the equalizer. This goal sparked the Falcons back into life, as they pressed forward looking for the winner, but they just could not find the killer touch.

Lowick Falcons 5 - 0 Longhoughton Magpies - 13th March
The Falcons made a great start to the Premiership Cup, with an fantastic win against the Magpies.
Yet again the Lads dominated from the first whistle, and really took the game to Longhoughton. It wasn't long till the Falcons took the lead with Buster grabbing the first, after some great build up play. Buster didn't have long to wait to get his second, with another clinical finish. Owen, Dean & Nial were totally dominating play in midfield, and creating plenty of chances with there passing, and movement off the ball. Eventually Lowick got a third before half time, yet again Buster scored after a mazey run by Dean.
The second half continued on just like the first. Tai & Jamie were pushing forward from defence, looking to add to the score line. Harvey also tested the keeper with a couple of great attempts, but it was James Moore who grabbed the fourth with a tremendous shot after a surging run. James Thompson was eventually called upon to make a vital save to keep a clean sheet for Lowick. Nial nicked a fifth, near the end after some determined play by Kyle from a corner.
Well done Lads keep it going for the next cup match

Lowick Falcons 5 - 0 Wooler - 6th March

This was the Falcons best performance of the season so far. Once again the lads had the upper had right from the start, and were basically encamped in the Wooler half for 90% of the match.

Lowick took a while to get the break through, but it was certainly worth waiting for, with a peach if a goal from Owen, this was followed up with a of cracking goal from Nial, and another from Owen. This gave the Falcons an 3-0 lead at half time. The second half was even more one sided, with Lowick attacking with great enthusiasm. Nial capped off a good display, by grabbing another 3 goals, and Dean got a goal to cap a fantastic all action display. James Moore got Lowicks final goal to finally kill of Wooler.

Everybody played really well today, from James T, in goal, right through to Buster upfront.

Lowick Falcons 2 - 1 Rothbury - 23rd January

The score line does not give a true reflection of the game. Rothbury came to play for a draw, packing as many players into defence as possible, and trying to hit Lowick on the break.

Right from kick off the Falcons pressed forward, looking for the early goal. Some of the passing, and movement off the ball was as good as anything they have played all season. Unfortunately for Lowick, the Rothbury keeper was in fantastic form. Buster and Dean, on different day would have bagged a hatful of goals between them, but just couldn't find a way past the keeper. At the back Tai, Kyle and Jamie had little to do, but when called upon they defended very well.

The second half mirrored the first half, with Lowick in complete control, but totally against the run of play, Rothbury took a shock lead, with a soft goal straight from a corner, somehow the ball trickled past a couple of Falcon players and over the line. This setback spurred Lowick on, and they pressed forward looking for the equaliser, and after some determined play by Dean, he lobbed the keeper, with less than 5 minutes left. The Falcons sensed they could get a winner, and with just a couple of minutes left, Jamie forced the ball home to give the Falcons a deserved victory.

Berwick 2 - 3 Lowick Falcons

This was the much anticipated “Derby” betweeen these two sides.

Right from the start Lowick took the game to Berwick, with some brilliant attacking play, and coupled with some great composure at the back. The Lads eventually took the lead, with a great volley from Deano. This early goal gave Lowick even more confidence, and they put the away goal under severe pressure. The second goal wasn't long in coming, and it was Jamie who rose highest, to score from a corner. Lowick kept up the pressure, and it was no surprise when they made it three before half time, This time Niall made sure from close range, after some good work from Buster.

Berwick came out fighting after the re-start, and the Falcons had to dig deep defensively. Berwick were now well on top at this stage, and pulled two goals back. Full credit to Lowick, who dug deep once again, and managed to get control once again, and had several chances to kill the game off for good, with Buster being unlucky not score with a great shot that smashed off the post. The Lads held out for a deserved win.

Credit should go to both sides, as the game was played with great spirit, and sportsmanship.

Picking Man of the Match was really difficult this week as everybody played really well, well done Lads keep it up.

Man of the Match Niall Jones

Lowick Falcons 4 - 0 Longhoughton Magpies - 28th November

The Falcons, carried on from where they left off from last weeks battling second half performance.

Right from the kick off Lowick dominated this game. Owen, Dean & Nial, took control of midfield, winning nearly everything, and not wasting possession. Buster opened the scoring after some great passing, he was sent clear, and with only the keeper to beat, he kept his cool and slotted it coolly past him. This spurred the Lads on, and they put the Magpies goal under great pressure, the pressure paid off, another sweeping move was finished off by Dean, for his first goal of the season. Lowickkept pushing for a third, but couldn't manage it before the break.

The second half carried on like the first, with Lowick growing in confidence, and it was Buster who grabbed the third, after making some space for himself, his shot took a slight deflection and flew into the net. James Moore & Harvey were unlucky not to extend the lead futher with some good efforts that flew just wide. Eventually the fourth goal came, with a couple of minutes remaining. After some desperate Longhoughton defending, James Moore knocked the ball in from close range.

This was a great team performance by the Lads, with everyone playing their part.

Lowick Falcons 4 - 0 Alnwick Town Dynamo - 21st November

The Falcons went into this game expecting a tough match, and despite being beaten 4-0, the Falcons were by no means outclassed or outfought.

Alnwicktook an early lead after a couple of minutes, and soon after they doubled their lead with a well worked goal. Lowick then started to come back into the game, and were unlucky to go a futher goal behind. To their credit Lowick never gave up, and started to play some good football. Buster nearly scored from a corner, only for the defender to head it clear via the post. Lowick tried to get a goal back before half time, and Owen nearly got one, with a wonderful chip that had the Keeper beaten, but unfortunately hit the cross bar.

The second half was real end-to-end stuff with both sides playing good attacking football, and both defences battling away. Then for the third time in the game the Falcons hit the woodwork, this time David beat his man, then went round the keeper, only to see his shot hit the post. The Dynamos grabbed a fourth near the end to finally kill the game.

Lowick Falcons 5 - 3 Alnwick Galaxy - 7th Novemeber
This was a very keenly contested match, in which Lowick had to dig very deep to battle for the win to keep them unbeaten in the league this season.

Lowick stormed into an early 2-0 lead, with goals from Owen & Buster, but Alnwick fought back to eventually draw level early in the second half. Lowick then took control again to race back into a 5-2 lead, with a further goal from Owen and two from Nial, and some great saves from James in goal.

Alnwick did pull a goal back late on, but the Falcons held out for the win. Well done lads keep it up!!
