1st October v Longhorsley

Lowick Falcons made it four wins from four games to justify their tag as early season pace setters but Longhorsley made them work extremely hard in humid conditions on a sodden Wooler pitch.Lowick got off to a dream start when Noah carried the ball to the edge of the box and lashed the ball home to open the scoring with only 45 seconds on the clock. Any thoughts that this game was going to be a pushover were quickly dashed when the Longhorsley Centre Forward burst through just two minutes later and rifled a low powerful drive past the keeper to level the scores and ruin the Falcons clean sheet record. Buster saw a good effort go just over after good work down the right from Noah and then Jamies speculative long range punt almost looped over the keeper after taking an unexpectedly high bounce. Niall, who had been a livewire since kick off, putting in tackle after tackle saw a long range effort of his own miss by a matter of inches but with 8 minutes of the half left he scored from close range on his third attempt after Noah supplied a low cross from the right. The Falcons seemed to tire in the humid conditions and Longhorsley looked more than capable of hitting Lowick on the break and James had to race off his line in the last minute of the half to clear the danger after his defence had been sprung open

HT- Lowick Falcons 2 Longhorsley 1

Five minutes into the second half the Falcons almost presented Longhorsley an early Xmas present when Declan and James both left a ball to each other only for the centre forward to nip in and strike a powerful effort but James had got back to make a great block and spare Lowicks blushes. This incident proved too much for "Mild Mannered Martin" and he "quietly" asked the lads not to do it again and remember what he had discussed at half time. Hearts were again in mouths moments later when Longhorsley broke away and hit the post and only a fantastic save from James from the rebound kept Lowick in front. Nialls pre match Skittles were certainly doing the trick and he was involved in a bizzare incident when he blasted a defensive clearance so far he almost hit a horse in the next field. The Falcons took a grip in midfield as Noah and Owen battled for everything and it came as no suprise when Deano scored with six minutes left to give the Falcons a two goal cushion and ease the parents and Martins shredded nerves. Busters slide rule pass had left Deano clean through and his crisp strike glanced the post on the way in. Tai, Jamie and stand in defender Declan were having a busy afternoon but somehow managed to stand firm and thwart Longhorsleys raids. Buster was unlucky after he went on a run from his own half to just miss the target, Deano tried his weekly acrobatic volley and Ewan had a good effort at the death but the Falcons had to be content with just the three goals. The clean sheet record may have gone but the news that Lowick Eagles had beat the Falcons main rivals, Seahouses meant it had been a good day at the office.

24th September v Wooler

The Falcons maintained their impressive start to the season with another good win against a gutsy, physical Wooler team determined to spoil their party. Lowick started the game kicking into a strong wind but still produced a good chance in the first minute when Owen shot narrowly over with a good strike from distance .Good work down the right wing from Deano and a great cross set up Buster next but the keeper saved his shot well to keep the score level. Buster again went close this time seeing his goalbound effort deflected away by a fine clearing header from a Wooler defender. Niall almost produced a carbon copy of his last weeks headed goal but was just wide this time but a minute later Owen showed how it should be done when he pounced on a loose ball to give Lowick the lead after six minutes. Wooler almost replied straight away with a thunderbolt free kick which keeper James did well to block. Buster tore down the other end and shot only to see an instinctive punch from the keeper clear the danger. Wooler were still creating chances and James produced a fantastic save next to keep out a fine strike and keep the Falcons "Beaks" in front. Niall and Ewan both had good chances before Jamie "Beckham" tried an audacious effort from well inside his own half that only just dropped over the bar with the Wooler stopper stranded off his line. The Falcons had a good claim for a penalty when a clever reverse pass from Noah played in Ewan who appeared to be clipped in the box but Ref Martin waved play on. Ewan was unlucky again when his shot hit the post and bounced back in the keepers arms and Declan went close to doubling the lead before the whistle sounded for half time

Lowick started the second half better and Owen showed good skill to control a lofted clearance before driving forward and shooting just wide. Noah saw two powerfull shots saved well as Lowick began to dominate but still could not get past a keeper in fine form. Buster had a great shot next that shaved the post as Wooler rode their luck at times. With five minutes remaining Owen robbed a Wooler defender after a poor throw from the keeper and unleashed an unstoppable shot that went in off the post to double Lowicks lead. A minute later it was three when Ewan pounced on a through ball to cooly steer the ball home past the onrushing keeper and give the scoreline a respectable feel. Deano decided it was time to stake his claim for goal of the season with a precision strike from twenty yards that sailed into the top corner to great applause from the sidelines and the game finished soon after with Lowick four goals to the good.

17th September v Longhoughton Magpies

Both teams went in to this match full of confidence after big wins in their opening game last week but it was the Falcons who emerged comfortable winners to retain top spot. Lowick started brightly and pinned the Magpies back with three corners in the first five minutes all causing the defence problems but good handling by the keeper kept the scores level. Tai's long throw ins were used to good effect and set up chances for Buster and Niall in the space of a minute. Owen and Noah had a stranglehold in midfield winning everything and when Deano came on with five minutes of the half remaining the Falcons really hit top gear.Noah had a fierce drive well saved and Deano flashed an effort narrowly wide as half time approached. The Magpies best chance of the half came just before the break when Cook burst through to find himself five yards clear only to see a determined Jamie track him down to hit him with a perfectly timed tackle to snuff out the danger.

Half Time 0-0

Lowick raced out of the blocks and the first chance fell to Deano who went for an acrobatic Rooney style scissor kick only to see the ball scuff to the keeper. Three minutes into the second half the Falcons won a corner and Buster's perfect cross was met by Niall who used his height to head home well from the far post. A minute later Lowick made it two when Noah's threaded pass was met by Buster's outstretched boot to poke the ball home.Five minutes later a fierce shot was spilled by the keeper and Lowicks fox in the box Buster was in the right place to add his second and Lowick's third. The Magpies keeper made up for his mistake to make fine saves from Declan and Deano but could do nothing about Lowicks fourth when another corner, this time taken by Nial, was headed home by Noah.A fine display all over the pitch with James not having a proper save to make but the second £2 clean sheet bonus from his mother should keep him motivated. Two games gone, nine goals for none against, and top of the league and Martin's hardest job will be keeping the Lowick superstars feet firmly on the ground

10th Sept v Berwick Juniors

The Falcons opening game of the season kicked off in controversial style when a confident Berwick team opted to start with seven players to the Falcons eight. After Niall took advantage of a defensive blunder to score, Berwick realised their error and the Lowick side sportingly agreed to start the match again from scratch. Lowick started brightly, again and Buster was the first to go close when he shot narrowly over in the first minute. Lowick continued to press forward and won three corners in the first five minutes with Tai forcing a save out of the keeper with a header and Jamie smashed the crossbar next with a bullet header only for Tai to squander the rebound. Lowick got the goal they deserved on 7mins when Owen capitalised on sloppy defending to smash the ball home from close range. Lowick allowed Berwick to press them back and James had everyones hearts in their mouths when he tore off his line to just reach the ball ahead of the Berwick striker and clear the danger. Berwick had a further chance moments later but a good volley flashed just wide.Lowick finished the half strongly with Buster, Deano and the new signing Noah all going close before the half time whistle blew.

H-T Falcons 1 Berwick 0

Second half saw Lowick kicking into the wind but if anything this suited their passing game and within two minutes Deano flashed a great shot inches wide after being set up by a great pass from Buster. Berwick had a clear sight of goal moments later but a fine block header by Tai kept the ball out. Lowick enjoyed a purple patch midway through the second half scoring three goals in the space of five minutes. Buster put in an inch perfect cross and Deano made no mistake to tap home the second. The scorer turned provider to play Buster in to score the goal of the game with an assured strike with the outside of the boot to slot it right in the corner and make it three. Noah then capped off a fine debut with a goal against his former club when he followed up an effort to smash the ball home and open his account. Lowick were looking solid all over but Declan had to be at his best and produced the tackle of the game to cleanly rob the Berwick striker with a perfect sliding tackle. Lowick were rampant and poured forward in packs and great work by Euan set up Buster to grab his second and the Falcons fifth of the day.The ref blew for full time slightly early and the slick passing Lowick team got the start they had hoped for.
